VLIFE PAIN CENTRE

MEDICAL MANIPULATION

Our distinctive medical manipulation integrates quality chiropractic care with various soft tissues techniques, FDA approved instruments and rehabilitative training to alleviate pain and restore the functions of your body.

Instead of manual (hand) manipulation, our certified doctors utilize evidence-based cutting edge tools and equipments to ensure safe, precise, and effective result. This treatment does not involve any twisting, turning, or “cracking” of joints.

The use of instrument adjusting such as the Arthrostim® and VibraCussor® allows for fewer side-effects and less post-treatment muscle soreness. Several studies have shown that instrument adjusting is just as effective as traditional chiropractic techniques for easing pain and increasing range of motion in patients who have sought chiropractic care. Its speed, gentleness and accuracy are also recommended for populations that may have trouble with the use of traditional chiropractic techniques, such as children and the elderly.

How does it work?
The medical manipulation using adjusting instruments allows our doctors to give patients a very specific adjustment, an adjustment in which only the segment that is out of position is adjusted. The ArthroStim™ is an FDA approved instrument developed by IMPAC technology in Oregon. For over 22 years it has been continuously refined and perfected. It introduces energy/force/information to the body to realign segments and remove nerve pressure at a speed of 12 “taps” per second (12 hertz); it is a fast, accurate, low force and controlled adjustment.
Injury-Specific Adjustment Instrument
One of the most useful characteristics of this treatment is its uses on patients in different postures. When you’re suffering from localized pain in one segment of your body, you may also be suffering from pain that is only present at certain times. If you feel pain when you stand, walk, stretch, bend, sit, or lie down, the position, frequency, and severity of your pain can give us more information about the best injury treatment plan for you. Knowing when your injury causes you pain is not enough to treat your pain, though, but with targeted ArthroStim adjustments performed when you’re in a position that causes you pain, you can feel the immediate pain relief effects, and you can leave our clinic confident that your pain relief treatment worked as well as it possibly could.

NON-SURGICAL SPINAL DECOMPRESSION

Non-invasive treatment for the management of patients with chronic neck, back, arm and leg pain from pinched nerves, or a bulging, degenerating or herniated disc. Spinal Decompression Therapy involves stretching the spine using traction or a motorized device to relieve pressure on the disc and allow retraction or repositioning.

This decompression also allows nutrients into the disc to promote healing.

What is Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression?
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression is the latest non-surgical procedure to treat chronic back pain. Widely used in Europe and recently approved in North America and Singapore, the treatment helps induce negative pressure in the vertebral joints, thereby creating space and relieving pressure from the nerves. Considered safe, and unlike surgery, the treatment does not entail the use of anesthesia, needles or joint manipulations.
Who can undergo Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression treatment?
Unlike surgery, this treatment can be a first line of help for individuals with chronic back pain. The treatment is ideal for individuals who, 1) have Undergone surgery and continue to have back pain 2) persistent pain after 4-6 weeks of other supportive care methods 3) Lower back or leg pain that is caused by herniated discs, bulging disc, osteoarthritis or trauma.
What Conditions can be treated by Spinal Decompression
Besides chronic back pain, it has been used to treat sciatica, facet joint syndrome, herniated discs, degenerated discs from arthritis, and pain resulting from failed back surgery.
Are there any studies required prior to the treatment?
Yes. An X-ray, MRI or a CT scan is required. Prior to treatment, our physician will review the CT scan or MRI results to determine where the pathology is and the severity of it.
Is Non-surgical Spinal Decompression painful?
Not at all. Patients can comfortably lie flat on their back, on a special bed, without feeling the slightest bit of pain. Perhaps the only discomfort is the pulling forces along the spine.
Is there anyone who should not undergo Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression?
Yes, here are some individuals who may not be suitable candidates for this treatment. Individuals who are pregnant or breast feeding

  • Individuals in recent trauma with a resultant spinal fracture – it is advisable to wait at least 6-9 months before undergoing this treatment.
  • Individuals with failed back surgery and retained surgical rods and nails. Treatment sessions can lead to further loosening of metal hardware.
  • Individuals who have osteoporosis are generally not candidates for this therapy. However, someone recently diagnosed with osteoporosis and still has good bone density may be a candidate.
  • Individuals who have cancer of the spine, or metastases from other cancers to the spine.
  • Individuals who have an infection of the spine or vertebrae.
  • Individuals with conditions such as ankylosing spondylitis, cauda equina syndrome, severe scoliosis, lordoisis or kyphosis
How does Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression treatment work?
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression is an outpatient treatment that will require 15-23 sessions for optimal results. Your physician will determine the number of treatments necessary based on your condition and examine how you fare with each session. Lasting about 30-60 minutes, treatments are comfortable and free from undue pain.
What does Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression do exactly?
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression is not a traction treatment. It generates negative pressure between the discs and decompresses the joint. This vacuum effect essentially relieves pressure on the nerves and eases the pain.
Are there any other benefits of Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression?
Yes, studies show that most people who have undergone this treatment benefitted from improved posture and flexibility. It is also believed that it can help realign back muscles and restore normal anatomy of the joints
How should I dress?
As you will be expected to lie down on an adjustment table. It is advisable that you wear comfortable or loose-fitting clothing during treatment sessions
What are the side effects or complications of this therapy?
There are no major side effects or complications. However, the most common complaint is that of muscle spasms which are transient in nature.

POSTURE CORRECTION & ERGONOMICS

Chiropractors are experts at analyzing posture relating to spinal problems. A simple yet effective Chiropractic check-up allows us to detect any imbalances in the body, especially from a young age, and correct them before the body has a chance to grow into the poor posture.

Posture is the window to the spine. If your posture is off, your spine is off. A high shoulder, a head tilt, an unleveled pelvis, forward head posture or rounded shoulders are all signs showing the body is out of alignment.

Often these poor posture have been present in the body for a long time, due to habits from everyday activities, such as sitting in office chairs, looking at the computer, driving, studying for long periods of time, carrying heavy back packs, or even sleeping. Poor posture can easily become second nature, causing or aggravating episodes of neck and back pain, and damaging spinal structures.

Chiropractors are experts at analyzing posture relating to spinal problems. A simple yet effective Chiropractic check-up allows us to detect any imbalances in the body, especially from a young age, and correct them before the body has a chance to grow into the poor posture. “As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.”

Chiropractors are also experts at analyzing your day to day and work ergonomics. Your desk, work area, chair, and car should be examined to make sure they don’t put any additional strain on your body when you use them. It is important that these equipments are in complete agreement with natural human movement and posture.

PHYSIOTHERAPY MODALITIES

Our clinic offers adjunctive Physiotherapy modalities alongside Chiropractic care to strengthen damaged soft tissues and restore normal muscle tone to the injured area. The use of these various physical modalities also helps control inflammation and restores normal blood flow to the affected region.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)
TENS is a non-invasive, low-risk device that uses electrical current to stimulate the nerves. It produces a mild current that can block pain signals from certain parts of the body from being transmitted to the brain. It can also raise endorphins levels, which are the natural pain killers produced by the brain.
Gym & Bosu Ball Exercises
Benefits of gym and bosu exercises include balance training, increased flexibility, core training and enhances endurance. A Bosu ball can also help a person in recovering from injuries and eliminates back pain. Squats performed using the ball activate the lower limb muscles and are very beneficial for rehabilitation.
Stretch Therapy
Fascial Stretch Therapy uses multi-planar and multi joint stretches to target the fascia. They are bed and anchor based stretches. This treatment aims to do the following by “unsticking” that fascia:

  • Relieve chronic muscles tightness and tension
  • Improve joint mobility and overall flexibility; often reducing stress on other structures
  • Improve posture
  • Improve circulation, relaxation and sleep – thus maximize rehabilitation and sports recovery.
Cold Laser Therapy
Cold Laser Therapy or Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a treatment that utilizes specific wavelengths of light to interact with tissue and is thought to help accelerate the healing process. It can be used on patients who suffer from a variety of acute and chronic conditions in order to help eliminate pain, swelling, reduce spasms and increase functionality. It reduces inflammation and eliminates pain. The laser lights reduce swelling caused by inflamed joints. It provides better joint mobility and stimulates tissue regeneration. Cold laser therapy activates the lymphatic drainage system to drain the swollen area of the body and reduce inflammation. It is safe. Cold laser is non-evasive and does not use strong lasers, which do not damage the cells. The treatment does not result in over-stimulation or overdose. It is also painless and non-toxic. This does have any side effects, as well. This makes cold laser therapy effective with 90 percent efficacy rates. Patients can easily return to a pain-free lifestyle within a few weeks. It promotes faster wound healing. The laser therapy accelerates wound healing. It reduces the formation of scar tissue caused by scratches, cuts, surgery, and burns. Cold laser promotes the reabsorption of fibrotic tissues, which speeds up healing. It treats arthritis. Cold laser therapy provides relief from arthritis by eliminating pain and reducing inflammation. It also helps increase joint mobility and improves immune cell efficiency.
